Pro Blogging -- A dream? Or a real possibility?
at 2005-08-19 04:16:35

Since Darren Rowse dropped the bomb on the blogosphere, announcing that he had made nearly $15,000 in one month from Google AdSense—I think a lot of people began to wonder, “Is this really possible?”

The thought of making that kind of money through blogging sounds like a dream.  One in a million.  But is it?

I recently launched The Alaska Blog as a way to test out Google AdSense and making money through affiliate programs.  I figured, it would be no loss if I didn’t make any money, the site is a way for us to get out and enjoy Alaska more and share it with the world.  (Note: the blog is just four days old today, but I promised I’d chronicle my journey!) One new blog every second
at 2005-08-19 04:16:35

Whoa. The blogosphere is continuing to grow, with a weblog created every second, according to blog trackers Technorati. In its latest State of the Blogosphere report, it said the number of blogs it was tracking now stood at more than 14.2m blogs, up from 7.8m in March. It suggests, on average, the number of blogs is doubling every five months. Via BBC Technology News

Day 12 of the great pro blog experiment
at 2005-08-19 04:16:35

Well I spent my first hour of the early morning writing a fabulous post about The Alaska Blog’s first twelve days.  But, apparently Expression Engine wants me to be less wordy and type faster because when I hit submit, I was directed to the login page.  My session had expired.  *sigh* Just as well, I’ll just hit on a few brief points and you can thank Expression Engine for sparing you from one of my infamously long rambles.

1.  I am now obsessed with figuring out how to drive more traffic and targetted traffic to this blog!

The Alaska Blog
that is.

I’m reaching 2,000 visitors or so, not bad for such a young blog.  But I confess that my primary referrer at this point is Blog Explosion.&

I really hate it when my blog eats my posts

That is all.
